How we work
WHO DECIDES?
A million of us is real power and that only works if it's used carefully. So before we ever ask you to act, every case has to pass the same test, judged by an independent council rather than just us.
Here's exactly how it works and how we say no.
The structure
Four parts, one job: get it right.
The test
Every case passes the same five gates, or we don't move.
Is it real?
Verified and sourced. We never move on a rumour.
Is it an institution?
A broadcaster, a brand or a public body. Never a private individual.
Is there a lever?
Something a response can actually move, like a complaint or a regulator.
Is it proportionate?
A response that fits the harm. We answer rather than pile on.
Would it stand up outside?
A fair person who isn't one of us would look and see the point.
All five yes and we act. Any one of them no and we stand down. Same test every time.
How we say no
Most things won't pass. That's the point.
We will say no a lot and we mean to. A movement that acts on everything is just noise and noise gets ignored. Saving the numbers for the cases that matter is what makes them land.
When we stand down we write down why in the open, so you can hold us to the same test we hold everyone else to.
